You know, Google really is an amazing thing. If it had not been for Google's beautiful header image I would not have known that it is the 450th Anniversary of St Basil's Cathedral in Moscow, Russia.

The internet is truly a wonderous thing.

Two more games to be added to my collection :)

In order to keep my ebucks going I have to add to them at least once every few months. The easiest way for me to do this is to shop online at Kalahari.net

I enjoy shopping at Kalahari because very often I can get games which I can't find in the store, I earn ebucks and I often find bargains... like these two.

Sacred 2: Fallen Angel is an RPG for my PS3. On first inspection it looked a bit "meh" but then I started to have a look at the screen shots on Gamespot and it looks pretty cool. GS also gave it a 7, so it can't be terrible. Will be able to give a better opinion of it when I start playing.

The other game I ordered was Tales of Symphonia - Dawn of the New World for Wii. Gamespot gave it a 6.5 rating, so I'm not holding very high hopes for it, but it looks pretty. The characters have a bit of a Final Fantasy look about them, so I thought "what the hell, may as well buy it."

A bit of a disappointing day

It’s been a frustrating day all round. The Ballito Prawn & Jazz festival wasn’t nearly as good as it was last year. All the stalls with lovely home décor goodies just weren’t there and the majority of the remaining stalls consisted of beaded jewellery, kids cheapie toys and Indian clothing. The one shirt I liked enough to try on didn’t fit across my boobs. I did find colourful little hackey sacks which I’m going to use for juggling practice. Mom bought me a bracelet and some nail polishes for Christmas stocking fillers, but there really wasn’t anything there that blew me away. We didn’t even end up eating there. Actually, we didn’t end up eating anywhere because we had (yet another) fight in Gateway. Ugh. Anyways…

It’s just been an incredibly long and kak day.

Alice: The Madness Returns

I'm in two minds as to whether or not I want this game. It looks, from a gaming point of view, well epic... but from a horror (read: I am a complete and utter wimp) point of view, I'm not so sure I want to take the leap and buy the game. I would also get it on PS3, so the grapics would be both awesome and scary. Yes, I am indeed a bit of a wimp :P

Gamespot did give it a review rating of 7. Bear in mind I generally won't buy a game if Gamespot gives it a rating lower than 6.

Note to self...

I really must make an effort to remember to take some decent photos of Wayne at some point in the very near future.

NoMu – Yes Please!

During my various treks around the interwebs today I stumbled across NoMu’s website. Now you must understand, I am of the opinion that NoMu make the best hot chocolate in the history of ever. Every sip is an orgasmic experience. So imagine my delight when I discovered that the NoMu website is every bit as awesome as their delicious hot chocolate. The website is filled with the most interesting variety of recipes, and you can subscribe to their monthly recipe newsletter, which they will send to you in PDF format.

For those of you, like me, who never knew this haven of food ideas existed, you can download their previous recipe newsletters (again, in PDF format) from the site. To whet your appetite and encourage you to please visit the site, I’ve added one of their superb recipe PDFs here.

Woolies... sneakily awesome...

They did it to us when they rebranded and they've done it to us again! Have you SEEN the new (and yes, definitely improved) Woolworths SA website?

In true Woolworths fashion, the website is beautiful. Simple, elegant, clever and once again filled with beautiful photographs.

What I find exceptionally clever with their new online shop style website is how the "click here to start shopping button" takes you directly to the Grocery Cupboard section of the site. The focus of the site has moved away from clothing and is hitting groceries in a big way. The product images are big and colourful so you know exactly what you're ordering. I'm really impressed. I know, I know... I am a regular Woolies shopper, so it doesn't take much for them to impress me, but I also know a good, intelligent website when I see one and a lot of thought, time and I'm sure cost went into producing their new website.

The only thing I think that needs a change is that they need to get all of their product images on to the site, but otherwise 10/10 Woolies :) Well done!

Food, food, food, food, food, food, fooooooooood…

I’m back on my diet due to the fact that I’ve picked up a good 7 or so kilograms, but this time around it’s just so difficult. I’m hungry all the time. Food is my cocaine. It’s my drug and my biggest vice. I love to cook, love to shop at stores like Food Lover’s Market… I can literally spend hours wandering up and down the aisles seeing what new products are on the shelves, enjoying the new packaging and wondering what the contents are like.

I do think that a lot of how I’m feeling is psychological as I spend at least 80% of my day thinking about food in one form or another. I work for a research company that profiles the grocery industry; my job is to follow what’s going on with the food retailers and my favourite channel is BBC Lifestyle (the cooking shows).

I’m feeling like such a sad panda, because even as I write this, and I’m pretty sure that even as you’re reading this, I’m contemplating making myself a peanut butter sandwich. I love peanut butter.

Wish this hollow feeling would just go away now :(

The House and Garden Show of 2011

The House and Garden show wasn't as awesome as I was expecting it to be. I think that what I was looking for in terms of home decor ideas I would only get at a show like Decorex. So as a result, although the show was lovely for what it was, I didn't really achieve much. I did however, buy a very pretty necklace (see the picture above) from a woman, called Karin, who makes jewellery from home. Her jewellery is very reasonably priced. Mom bought a gorgeous necklace for Celeste (my aunt in Canada), and a keyring for Darren's (my cousin in Canada) girlfriend. Why she bought the girlfriend a keyring is beyond me.

We found a few nice little goodies we could have bought and there was much in the line of cakes, sweets and biscuits, but lack of dosh and a strict diet meant that we didn't really buy anything. Mom bought me a set of silicon muffin trays from the Wizbake stand. Their baking trays are gorgeous. Actually just about everything from them is gorgeous. They have the most fantastic ice trays and chocolate moulds. I actually bought mom some chocolate moulds from them last year at the Good Food and Wine show.

Another stand which we found that I like was a company called Mooi. Again, pretty things. They had lovely leather cuffs. Other than lunch and a chocolate/marshmallow brownie (mom and I shared one), we didn't buy anything else. We made up for the brownie by having a really healthy grilled fish and salad dinner.

All in all it was a lovely day, even though I didn't manage to accomplish what I wanted.

It's time for the Ballito Prawn and Jazz Festival this year. Mom, grandpa and I went to this last year and we thoroughly enjoyed it. There were cooking demonstrations, a flea market, a motorbike showjumping show, live music and crafts of all sorts. It was really an enjoyable experience.

This has been...

... an exceedingly difficult day.

No; work is fine. It's got to do with my cousin and boyfriend who are both, it would seem, determined to stress me into an early grave.

Anyways, Gina, (my boss's wife) brought their baby in to the office today. Sienna is just the most angelic little thing.
